Speaker: Good morning everyone, and a very warm welcome to Northbridge University's open day. My name is Helen Carter, and I'm part of the Student Recruitment Team. I'll be giving you an overview of what the day involves before you head off to your subject sessions. So, let me start with the schedule. Our welcome talk, which is what you're in now, finishes at half past ten. After that, the campus tours begin from the main library, and I'd strongly recommend you join one, as the campus can be quite confusing on your first visit. The tours leave every twenty minutes and last about forty-five minutes in total. Now, after the tour, you'll have time to visit the departmental stands. These are all located in the Sports Hall, not the Student Union building as printed in your booklet, so please make a note of that change. Lunch is provided free of charge for all visitors, and you can collect a voucher from the registration desk near the entrance. The cafe in the Arts Building will be serving from twelve until two. For those of you interested in accommodation, there's a dedicated session at two fifteen in Room 104. Our halls of residence are very popular, and I should mention that first-year students are guaranteed a place if they apply before the thirty-first of August. The cost of a standard room is around one hundred and forty pounds per week, which includes all your bills and high-speed internet. If you'd prefer something a little quieter, our self-catered flats are slightly cheaper at one hundred and twenty pounds. Moving on to finances more generally, the university offers a range of scholarships. The most generous of these is the Excellence Award, worth three thousand pounds a year, which is awarded on the basis of your academic results. There's also a Sports Scholarship for talented athletes. To find out more, do speak to the team at the finance stand. Finally, a few practical points. If you came by car, please remember that parking is only free in car park C today, near the science labs. The other car parks require a permit. There's free wifi across the whole campus, and the network name is simply OpenDay. We're also running a feedback survey, and everyone who completes it will be entered into a prize draw to win a tablet. Just scan the code on your name badge. Right, that's everything from me. Please enjoy your day, ask plenty of questions, and don't hesitate to find a member of staff in a blue t-shirt if you get lost. Thank you, and over to the tour guides.
